About Us
“Just Because” Chocolates was founded in 1997 by Milli Walton and she sold the business to Bruna D. Smith in January of 2008.
I became interested in cake decorating in high school. My mother would bake cakes for me and then I would decorate them after school. I grew up in Southern Pines, NC and moved to Wilmington, NC in 1998 with my husband and son. In 2007 I met Milli and was fortunate enough to work beside her at her shop. She is an excellent teacher and I learned a lot about her business, chocolate, candy and how to make people happy. I am very grateful to Milli and God for giving me the opportunity to continue her legacy and add my cake decorating skills as well.
I would like to dedicate this business to my Lord and Savior, my mother (Maria Duffey) who died in 1981, and to my dad Msgt. William H. Duffey who died in 2006. With their love and guidance I have learned that God is first and through Him I can do all things.
